When you decide you want a house that truly feels like home, you need to work with a custom home builder. Passage Island Construction has been helping people create their dream homes for over 40 years, and repeatedly, customers speak highly of their experiences working with our builders. If you’re thinking about hiring our home builders, here’s a look at the process so you know what to expect.

Finding Inspiration

The first step is getting inspired. Many homeowners have an idea of what they want, but they need help pinning down the specifics. To start that journey, you may want to look at some of Passage Island’s model homes, or you may want to drive through some of the communities we’ve put together. At this point, you can also come into the office, sit down with one of our friendly representatives, and look through our floor designs.

Building From Scratch

Many people see their dream home instantly when they look at the many floor plans we have available. However, others want something that is uniquely themselves, and to make that possible, they sit down with a draftsperson to create a home from scratch. If you decide to do that, we ask you to come in with a list of features that you want. Include features that you love from your current home as well as features you’ve always dreamed of having in a new home.

Customizing Your Options

Whether you decide to have our home builders create a design from scratch or use one of our existing designs, there are a lot of details that need to be customized. At Passage Island Construction, we are known for offering a number of high end features that many home builders charge extra for. We also work with you to customize everything from appliances to countertops to flooring, and of course, we don’t forget about the really small details such as faucets, cabinet pulls, and light fixtures.

Choosing the Lot

The home is just one part of the process. You also have to choose a land lot. If you already have a lot, we can build the home there. Our professionals can also help navigating the bumpy road of lot development rules or covenant considerations for various neighborhoods. If you don’t already have a lot in mind, we can help you find the perfect spot to build your home. We have built homes in Vero Beach, Sebastian, Melbourne, Fort Pierce, and Port St. Lucie, as well as in the Northeast and other areas.

Building the Home

When all the details are in order, our home builders get to work actually putting your home together. We focus on ensuring that we stick to your budget and timeline. Our goal is to create the home you deserve on schedule and under budget. However, it’s important to be aware that there can be surprises that pop up during the process or additional decisions that need to be made. Once the home is built, we do a walk through and address any additional issues. Once the finishing touches are in place, you can move in, and your new home is yours forever.

At Passage Island Construction, we are committed to quality, style, and your happiness. We want this experience to be pleasant from the first moment you look at a model home to the moment you actually move into your home.
